2D and 3D Seismic Interpretation - Virtual Learning
Course Methodology
The training course will be based on slide presentations for each module, together with team and individual exercises. There will also be sessions with real exploration examples to get participants a hands-on experience on the usage of seismic data. Exercises and examples include several geodynamic settings and participants will be able to evaluate, quantify and risk hydrocarbon accumulations.
Course Objectives
At the end of this 2D and 3D Seismic Interpretation training course, you will learn to:
- Understand seismic data acquisition and processing
- Visualize seismic data and develop interpretation capacity
- Interpret and map faults and seismic horizons
- Identify hydrocarbon accumulations using seismic data
- Quantify and risk hydrocarbon accumulations
Target Audience
This 2D and 3D Seismic Interpretation training course is designed for subsurface professionals who are interested in using seismic interpretation for their work or interact with seismic interpreters in their companies.
This Gulf Rowad 2D and 3D Seismic Interpretation training course is suitable to a wide range of professionals but will greatly benefit:
- Petroleum Geologists
- Sedimentologists and stratigraphers
- Petrophysicists
- Basin modellers
- Geophysicists
- Reservoir and drilling engineers
Target Competencies
Organisational Impact
Seismic interpretation is a key tool in the Oil and Gas industry, from early stages of exploration to production. As such the organizational impact of this 2D and 3D Seismic Interpretation training course is reflected in:
- Qualify staff with a key tool for the upstream industry
- Allow staff from different disciplines to have a common understanding of seismic data
- Define company-wide seismic data standards
- Boost staff capacity to correctly identify leads and prospects
- Capacitate staff with skills to quantify and risk hydrocarbon accumulations
- Refine the communication between geological evaluation and economic evaluation teams
Personal Impact
Seismic is the main source of subsurface data in the oil industry. Any Geoscientist or Engineer will need to at least be aware of its fundaments, uses and limitations. Personal impact includes:
- Improve the knowledge on seismic data, how it is acquired, processed and interpreted.
- Understand how faults, horizons and other features are interpreted and used for hydrocarbon exploration and production
- Develop skills in identifying hydrocarbon accumulations using seismic data.
- Ability to quantify and risk hydrocarbon accumulations
- Communicate more efficiently with other geoscience and engineering disciplines that use seismic data.
- Understand the wonders of geology imaged in the subsurface by seismic data
